EU urges US to reconsider visa denial to Palestinian officials

The European Union has called on the United States to reconsider its decision to deny visas to Palestinian officials ahead of the United Nations General Assembly. The US barred Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas from traveling to the New York meeting. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas urged for the decision to be reconsidered in light of existing agreements between the UN and its host state. This diplomatic move comes as several countries are reportedly set to recognise Palestine as a state at the UN meeting.
