Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood to legally challenge US terror designation

The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood has vowed to legally challenge the United States' decision to designate its branches in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon as terrorist groups. The organization called the move politically motivated, unsupported by evidence, and a politicization of counterterrorism tools. The US Treasury and State Departments imposed sanctions, designating the Lebanese branch as a 'foreign terrorist organisation' and the Egyptian and Jordanian branches as 'specially designated global terrorists' for allegedly supporting Hamas. These designations make it illegal to provide material support to the groups and impose economic sanctions. The Brotherhood insists it has never threatened US security and will pursue all legal avenues to overturn the decision.
