Egypt says it's ready to send aid, receive wounded once Rafah crossing reopens

Egyptian authorities have announced they are fully prepared to send humanitarian aid into Gaza and receive wounded Palestinians for medical care. This assistance is contingent upon Israel reopening the Rafah border crossing, which has been shut since May in violation of a ceasefire agreement. The crossing is expected to reopen on February 1st, fulfilling a key condition of the truce after the last Israeli captive was returned from Gaza. Despite the agreement, Israel has continued to restrict aid and recently demolished the UNRWA headquarters in East Jerusalem, a primary source of support for Palestinian refugees.
