Dozens appear in court for supporting Palestine Action with thousands still waiting for trials

Dozens of people are appearing in a UK court on terrorism charges for showing support for the proscribed group Palestine Action. The defendants, many of whom are pensioners, were arrested for holding signs reading “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action” during protests. The UK government banned the group under anti-terror laws after its members damaged military aircraft they said were used in Gaza. With over 2,000 people facing charges, lawyers and defendants have warned that the legal system is struggling to cope, potentially limiting the right to a fair trial.
