Doctors Without Borders (MSF) described the Sudanese city of el-Fasher as a largely destroyed and empty "ghost town" following a recent visit. The assessment revealed the massive scale of destruction after the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) seized the North Darfur capital in October. The RSF, which reportedly receives support from the UAE, is accused of widespread massacres and atrocities, leading to the death or displacement of most of the city's residents. The ongoing war in Sudan has resulted in an estimated 150,000 deaths and 14 million displaced people since it began in April 2023.
