Destruction of homes in Gaza makes displacement permanent, says UN

The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) stated that the destruction of homes in Gaza City by the Israeli military is likely to make displacement permanent. Israeli military actions are described as inflicting terror on the Palestinian population, forcing tens of thousands to flee. As of Monday, partners estimated that over 20,500 people had been displaced from northern Gaza to the south, bringing the total since mid-August to over 321,200. The OHCHR also cited a sharp increase in civilian deaths within Gaza City.
