China’s Soft Power Tools and Whether They Work

The United States and China are increasingly competing globally through both hard and soft power. In the last two decades, China has shown a growing interest in promoting its soft power, most notably through its Belt and Road Initiative. Beyond this major project, China also employs less visible methods to advance its image and relationships via culture, business, technology, and media. The analysis gathers insights from five experts to evaluate these forms of Chinese soft power and determine their effectiveness.
