Cambridge Student Union splits from National Union of Students over Gaza

Students at the University of Cambridge have voted for their student union to disaffiliate from the National Union of Students (NUS). The move was prompted by the NUS's alleged failure to "campaign for Palestine" and support student protesters demonstrating against the war in Gaza. The motion to leave accused the national body of ignoring calls to take a stand on the conflict and failing to support students facing disciplinary action for their activism. This decision follows a wider call from student groups at 55 universities for the NUS to act on Gaza or face mass disaffiliation.
