Calls in Ghana to cancel Israeli film festival

Nearly 400 individuals and organizations in Ghana are calling for the cancellation of an Israeli film festival in the capital, Accra. In a letter to the host venue, signatories described the event as an attempt to "whitewash genocide and apartheid" and an insult to Ghana's history of supporting liberation struggles. As a result of the campaign, all local filmmakers have reportedly withdrawn their films from the festival. The coalition of petitioners plans to picket the event and initiate boycotts against sponsors if they fail to withdraw.
