Berkeley and Wayne State University labelled 'hostile' to pro-Palestinian activism

The Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has designated the University of California, Berkeley and Wayne State University as hostile to pro-Palestinian speech. These institutions were added to a list of nearly 30 campuses cited for suppressing advocacy and failing to protect students and faculty. CAIR designated UC Berkeley due to its alleged surveillance of protests and selective policy enforcement that endangers those advocating for Palestinian rights. Specific incidents mentioned include a faculty member physically confronting a Palestinian student and another professor comparing pro-Palestinian symbols to the Confederate flag.
