Bedouin families left homeless as Israel demolishes Negev village

Israeli police forces raided and demolished the unrecognized Palestinian Bedouin village of al-Sir in the Negev desert, destroying 40 homes and other structures. This action left the resident families homeless, as authorities offered no alternative housing and informed them they would be charged nearly $900,000 for the demolition. Police used stun grenades and gas against residents who gathered to protest the destruction of their neighborhood. The displaced families, who had been relocated to the area by Israeli authorities in the 1950s, now face an uncertain future without shelter.
