Attacks on Saudi Arabia’s East-West pipeline have knocked out 700,000 barrels per day of the kingdom’s oil capacity, representing about 10 percent of its current exports. A statement from the Saudi energy ministry attributed the strikes to Iran and confirmed this was the first official acknowledgment of damage to its energy facilities from these attacks. Other facilities, including the Manifa and Khurais oil processing plants and refineries in several cities, were also targeted, reducing production capacity. The confirmation comes as the US and Iran prepare for peace talks and after the pipeline became a critical export route due to Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz.
