Armenia and Azerbaijan to ink peace memorandum under Trump mediation

Azerbaijan and Armenia are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding in Washington, committing to the pursuit of a peace deal under US mediation. The agreement will be signed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a White House ceremony hosted by President Donald Trump. Despite progress on a draft agreement, Baku continues to insist that Yerevan amend its constitution to remove references to Azerbaijani territory. A key sticking point remains the Zangezur Corridor, with Armenia having rejected a US proposal for an American company to lease and operate the transport route.
