Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has denied allegations of a secret military agreement with Tunisia that would infringe upon Tunisian sovereignty. The controversy was sparked by the online circulation of an unauthenticated document claiming the pact would allow the Algerian army to penetrate 50km into Tunisian territory. Tebboune denounced the claims as an "attempt to destabilise" Tunisia and damage the relationship between the two countries. The official military cooperation agreement, signed in October, was meant to update a 2001 pact to strengthen joint training and coordination against cross-border threats.
