Algeria accuses the UAE of interference in elections

Algeria has accused the United Arab Emirates of interfering in its elections, significantly escalating tensions between the two states. Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune publicly criticized the UAE for meddling in his country's affairs and playing a destabilizing role in the region. In a concrete move, Algiers announced it was terminating a 2013 air services agreement with Abu Dhabi. These actions follow earlier reports that Algeria suspects the UAE of supporting separatist groups, potentially leading to a full severance of diplomatic relations.
